Walks.
The Isle of Wight is the first county to be given national recognition by the Countryside Commission for the maintenance and signposting of its footpaths and bridleways, of which there are 500 miles in total, so there is great walking to be enjoyed. The Tourist Information Centres can supply you with maps and route guides, including those suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
The Annual Isle of Wight Walking Festival boasts an eye-catching line-up of over 100 walks - more than double the number from previous years - taking place at locations Island-wide. The packed and imaginative programme has been designed to appeal to all ages, abilities and interests. It includes guided walks, sponsored walks, pub walks, ghost walks, fun walks and competitive walks, fossil hunts and natures trails to name but a few. A full listing is available by calling Isle of Wight Tourism on 01983 813818 (also see Isle of wight tourisme events section).

Cycling.
The Island is a treasure trove of well signposted routes for mountain biking, touring and family cycling. Bike hire and repair information along with maps are available from Tourist Information Centres.

This year a brand new Cycling Festival from the 10th-25th June will provide visitors with an opportunity to explore it to the full. In addition, the Festival offers a range of on and off road cycling challenges for all ages and abilities as well as a varied programme of entertainment for spectators. See our Events section for further details.

By Plane.
Pleasure flights around the Island are available from Sandown and Bembridge airports.

On Horseback.
Horse riding is a great way to explore and there are a number of stables located across the Island where you can hire a horse for half a day or longer. For details ask at a local Tourist Information Centre.

Buses.
